The Indy 500 - well almost!

Kolten had his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby in January. It was better than last year for two main reasons: One, Brad was here and not stuck in Mexico, and two, Kolten got 2nd place!! Kolten designed the car himself and pretty much built it, sanded it, painted it, etc., by himself. Brad helped him cut it out, but then we just sat back and watched the "creative juices" flow!!:) (From a 9 year old boy's mind, no less!) I was a little nervous for some reason - I really was silently praying he would at least win one race, because he was really excited about his car. Once he won the first one he raced, I just sat back and enjoyed the show! None of us are very competitive, so we don't get into it like some people. Brad told Kolten from the beginning this was his car, his pinewood derby - because obviously he is the cub scout. What a concept - some people haven't figured that one out and I think are trying to relive their glory days or something!:) Anyway it really is funny to me how serious some of the boys/fathers/grandfathers (Really!) are about this! So Kolten nearly upset last year's winner - the last race and they were tied - neck and neck till the very last second when the other boy's car barely won! Kolten was like "whatever" and was just pretty excited to get 2nd place! He was a good sport about it all and we are just happy that's over for another year, at least!!
*Don't you just love the Lego man driving - he didn't even fall off!!*
