Here are a few pictures to show you what it's like at our house - regularly! There is always some critter that Kolten and/or Morgan catch and make a home for on our back porch (only on the back porch because mom won't let them live in the house!). We have had everything from a whole colony? of roly poly's to lots of baby frogs to caterpillars, turtles, preying mantis and everything you can imagine in between. One of their (not mine!:)) latest projects is re-locating squirrels. I have to say I am really impressed with Brad's control, because re-locating to him use to be to "re-load" and send them to a better place: animal heaven!! Sorry if that sounds cruel to you animal lovers out there, but some animals don't really care what they do to mess up our yard, our belongings, etc. But now that Kolten has been setting a live trap with peanut butter (I'll let you know how many spoons I continue to find with peanut butter on them left in random places outside when this little phase in life is done!:)) he is regularly catching squirrels and they are relocating the squirrels to the river area - no not drowning them!! Just giving them a new home away from ours I hope!
These are our most recent Wild Adventures:
Kolten found a snail in the Subway parking lot - right on the asphalt - alive!! We kept in for a few days until he let it go (that is always the rule - Heavenly Father created these creatures to live in their own habitat, not ours!!) It really was pretty cool for a snail!
This was not so cool - we found and killed a rattlesnake in our backyard. It was a big one, too! Luckily we were all completely blessed as Kolten & Morgan were protected from it! Notice Brad's boots! He & I are not real fond of any snakes, so rubber boots and a shot gun really helped us out this time!!:) The funny part was that in the middle of the snake catching, (we both already had the creepy-crawly's) he yanks off one of the boots because he thought something was crawling on him!! Out came a little caterpillar - no doubt one of Morgan's little pets!!:) Creepy!!!:)
This was after the head and rattlers were cut off. Kolten is holding the rattlers in the bag.
This is a coyote Brad killed and had the hide preserved and he mounted it on some wood. So Morgan ends up laying on it like a rug and we notice she's the same size! She thought it was great and wanted me to take her picture! Yes, another day in our Wild Kingdom ... don't ya just love it!!!
